placement support

Staff within modus have been recruited specifically to offer varied experience: we have staff with considerable fieldwork experience within children and families’ services, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding. We also have recently recruited a team member with exceptional experience in health provision in order to complement our team.

We employ support workers with particular qualifications, experience and skills in direct work with children and young people: although they are in a position to offer advice, guidance and practical support to carers, their primary frame of reference is to develop relationships with the child in placement, in negotiation with the placing social worker, in order to enhance the quality of the placement.

We operate as a close-knit team aiming to make our carers feel valued for the challenging and important work that they are undertaking. However, our combined experience also enables us to operate in a highly professional manner with the ability to communicate and negotiate with bigger partners. Whilst we aim to expand our service to reach out to more children, we are determined not to forfeit our high standards.

At modus, we believe that the support and advice that we are able to offer our carers is second to none. Our minimum level of service to any placement is monthly formal supervision meetings, carried out by the supervising social worker, together with a monthly support visit from the support worker. Frequency of face to face and telephone contact often exceeds this according to the needs of the placement.

We also operate an out of hours service to the carers, young people and placing authorities.
