staff training

All staff have access to a comprehensive in-house training programme, which addresses both mandatory and optional training. In addition to this, Cross Lee House is committed to the provision of an NVQ programme for its staff and we have achieved and maintained approval as an accredited City and Guilds Centre. modus are also piloting a new award in Safeguarding which is available to our staff as well as to foster carers.

We are committed to ensuring that our staff group is appropriately trained and qualified: where, exceptionally, someone is appointed without Level 3 NVQ, there are specific expectations placed upon them to achieve this within a short time scale.

The training and development needs of all employees are reviewed monthly in supervision and yearly in appraisals. It is an expectation of all staff members and their respective line manager that they will, in their preparation for supervision and appraisal, actively seek to identify training and development needs.

The mandatory training for staff at Cross Lee House includes safeguarding, undertaken annually, health and safety training, Good Order and Control and food hygiene. Our deputy manager is a qualified first aid trainer and provides first aid training across the whole of the modus organisation.
